The cadet corps in Ghana was established in 1954, at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) Takoradi. The aim of establishing the cadet corps in schools is to install discipline and loyalty among students. Currently, the corps is the largest youth organization with the membership of schools strength of about six hundred and fifty four (654) and a numerical strength of about fifty-six thousand six hundred and sixty (56,660) in all the ten regions of the country making it the biggest youth group in the country.
The National cadet corps Ghana is an amalgamation of the army, navy, airforce, police, fire and CEPS cadet corps in the country. The ministry thought it wise to set up this desk to curb the level of indiscipline in our educational institutions and to plan effectively for cadet corps as it is in other advance countries.
It has a staff strength of about twenty-six (26) volunteers comprising of Regional coodinators and staff officers in all the ten regions of the country. This is one of the well organized youth educative organizations that the national spreed in all the ten regions and easily to mobilize for national duties.

The National Cadet Corps Ghana is to develop resourceful, responsible, resilient, loyal leaders and team players through fun and challenging military related activities. This curb indiscipline and help to promote and execute government plane and policies.
